Considering the recent cases of Shamir Reuben and Aziz Ansari, we wonder if celebrities are milking the feminism rage and building a faux image or are they genuinely supporting the cause? Both of them have been quite vocal about equality and have time and again stood in favor of women. When we hear such men taking advantage of their celebrity status, it becomes a matter of concern.
In case of Aziz Ansari, he misread a woman’s body language and her subtle signs and continued to impose himself on her. A few of you may say, the girl could have been firm and said no or just left the place. Yes, that could have been done but we would like to ask, isn’t body language a necessity when it comes an intimate act like sex? Your body follows you when you are in the mood. Perhaps, years of dominance has made men believe women are always in the mood and they shouldn’t deny advancement of men.
Shamir Reuben has been accused of sending unsolicited sexual messages to as young as 16-17 year olds. He has persistently asked women to send explicit pictures and messages. Apart from sexting, he also wanted to be their ‘first’. After the first accusation by Sakina Bootwala went viral, many other spoke up about their experiences with the well known poet and substantiated her claim.
If renowned men like them, who have build a perception of being feminist, can practice such misogyny, it’s a wake up call for all of us.
The Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 is over and here is how we decided to keep it simple yet colourful this season, a round up of Five Days Of Fashion
Day 1: Nude is the new black!
There is a craze for nude shades since a while now. The same applies for us too. The beige knee length dress with abstract prints was one of the simplest options one could go for. It was breezy and comfortable. The pair of brown, feather earrings was just an option but it proved to be the only option that went best with the outfit. Beige coloured wedges and a maroon lipshade was all that was needed to complete the look!
Day 2: Black and white, done right!
The first thing that was in the mind was to ditch the heels. Lakmé Fashion Week calls for a lot of work and comfortable footwear is all that one needs. The focus was to work around a pair of simple black sandals. A basic black asymmetrical tee was the one we chose and tucked it with a pair of striped palazzos. Vertical stripes not only give a smarter look but also makes you look slimmer. Ending that with a silver statement neckpiece was all that one could do the best.
Day 3: Experimenting with basic colours!
A knee length magenta dress with a purple undertone was something that could be experimented really well. The first experiment was accessories and jewellery. A broad belt could flaunt your waist line. Otherwise beige heels would contrast really well with the colour of the dress. Ditching these two alternatives, we thought of accessorising with a multi coloured, beaded neckpiece. The necklace did not look that great at first but after wearing it with the dress, we came to know its worth. A purple lipstick was all you need to complete the look.
Day 4: That pop of colour!
There was this red floral dress in the wardrobe since quite a long time and we thought of giving it a chance. Pairing it with flats was one possibility of making it look different than one would usually think of working around with it. Completed it with a half, high pony to get that playful look.
Day 5: Black is back!
Needed to get the black back. Yes, black works wonders. It is the ultimate solution to all fashion problems. A black jumpsuit and black heels (less high, more comfort) was all that one needed. An LBD would otherwise be a great alternative to the jumpsuit but lets play with the legs. 😉
Did not want to do much but curl the hair to give the hairstyle a new angle. Black indeed is the saviour.
Let us know in the comments below about your thoughts and views. We hope you enjoyed reading it. 🙂
As the autumn approaches and there’s chill in the atmosphere, my heart wanders off to days with wooly jumpers and hot chocolate. It’s mid week and tiredness has already taken over my spirit. Amidst all these lazying, I realise I am late for work and have meetings lined up.
I quickly jump out of my bed, barely take a shower and fish out these snuggly fitted dresses that are perfect for formal event. I feel sorted for next day as well.
For the first day, I chose my jeans dress. The fit hugs my curves well and makes me feel like the boss lady that I am. I ditched the heels for comfortable stone encrusted flats and wore simple pearl drop earrings. The look was completed with my favorite gold watch and a hint of red on my lips.
The orange and pink dress has been one of my favorite as it gives a fresh vibe and a structured look. For Team Lunch, I paired it with the statement pearl neckpiece and as the colours are too bright, I went for subtlety in footwear.
The two formalised dresses really worked well for someone like me who was too confused to take a decision and solved my mid-week dress woe.
Last night while watching “An evening in Paris”, I was suddenly drawn to the beauty of France. How impeccable the city seems entwined with old world charm. I started taking a virtual tour of Paris and couldn’t resist falling in love with the city.
For a date night we always look for something that is elusive, delicate yet lasting. And this time, the bewildering beauty of the city of love was our inspiration.
The look reflects the vibrant and passionate vibe of the city and makes for a perfect date night outfit, something that’s a tease as well as elegant.
Paired with the red flared skirt here is a fitted black crop top and a pair of matching pom pom earrings.
Contrasting and Vibrant! Let your partner drool with admiration.
We are overwhelmed with the kind of support our friends have extended to us and are truly honored to share this special bond with them. Couple of days back, we did a blog on travel style and our friends have been gracious enough to share their personal style with us. Each of their look is an extended part of their personality and speaks volume about them. We will start with our personal favorite fashionista, Priti. She works with Deloitte where she is known to inspire people with her astounding sense of style. She puts her trust into classics. During her recent trip to Dubai, she swayed the locals with her on point dressing. Next is the woman who is closest to our heart, our Desi girl, Salakha. She is a true tester, fixing bugs professionally and also in her friends life. Her sense of style is completely opposite to her nature. The quirky prints and accessories, often overshadow her demure nature. We would now like to introduce you to our star Baker, Charul. A foodie at heart, she has converted her passion into a business. A true believer of the adage “Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes” . Riddhi is the wild child. Sexy, outgoing and lover of finer things in life. She can convert your home into a heaven with her designing skills. She is frequently seen experimenting with her clothing. What do we say about Richa. She is simple, sweet yet a fierce career women. Travel is her life. She has an effortless sense of style that mirrors her personality well.
Ganpati Bappa Morya! Bappa brings lots of happiness, good luck and of course the best modaks! 😉
Not just people in Maharashtra but every one else too waits for this auspicious occasion. Some even say, that the season of festivals and celebrations have begun. You see we have Navratri, Dussehera, Diwali all lined up. It seems as if the festivals are just waiting for one to get over so that the other can commence. This year Ganesh Chaturthi begins on a Friday which means long weekend, pandal hopping, good food and yes dressing up to the level best. We thought of three simple and different ways to colour our long weekend that we would definitely love to share with our readers too.
Day 1: This has to be the toughest yet the most excitement filled day of all. Lord Ganesha arrives at our homes and pandals. Arti, Puja, Bhog and every ritual has to be done perfectly. With all these work to do, staying simple yet stylish is the best solution. We have a soft corner for the colour yellow but it is a very difficult colour to carry if not teamed up rightly. This lime green Lucknowi Kurta with yellow embroidery is not just pleasing to the eyes but also gives a very comfortable feel. To go well with the yellow motifs, we paired it with a pair of yellow leggings and simple jhumkas. A perfect look for Day 1. What else do we need? Yes, you are right. We need to now think for the upcoming days. 😉
Day 2: We all love to flaunt our best dupattas. In the recent fashion times, the dupattas always do most of the work easy. Here the orangish red kurta and dupatta coordinate well enough and give a bright and radiant look to the eyes. The pair of straight white pants is the best partner to create a festive ensemble. Kolhapuri chappals, jutis or any such traditional flat footwear would complete the look for you. Yes flats are best when you have plans to roam around a lot and visit everyone during festivals. It just makes your feet feel lighter.
Day 3: Its Sunday and surely you have had enough of pandal hoppings and visiting your friends. Its time for some relaxation and looking the best. And like every girl, we too love our sarees. Draping them becomes difficult at times, but the feeling of donning one never fades our smile. This black and white saree has beautiful motifs on the pallu. Paired it with a velvet blouse, it does not look too bright to the eyes. Saree and no jewellery cannot be an option for us. The look is so elegant that too much jewellery would also ruin its simplicity. So we thought of pairing the saree with silver and pearl drop danglers and embellished bangles. It really worked the best!
We hope you agree with our thoughts. So without much delay, enjoy the celebrations and don’t forget to look the best. 🙂
An ardent globetrotter is always in the search of some really comfortable clothes. And when we say this we also mean that it has to be uber chic and Instagram worthy.
Upon seeing the black crop top, the first thing that struck is to pair it with plain white shorts. Of course you can go with a distressed one too. This somehow gave a contented feeling that we wanted. To give it a smarter finish, we accentuated the whole look with a long denim shrug. And that worked wonders. The embellishments were kept minimal as the polka dots were the attention seeker.
You could also alter the denim jacket with a different colour or fabric that matches well with your shorts and top. If you too want to try this look for a short trip with your friends, then shop the look below:
